Unlike surface treatments, the antibacterial protection is built into the gelcoat structure and will not wash or wear off.

Q. How does this antibacterial protection work?

A. The antibacterial additive in Maxguard® AB effectively inhibits the growth of microorganisms by utilizing an electrochemical mode of action to penetrate and disrupt their cell walls. These cells are unable to reproduce, virtually eliminating the growth of the organism.

Q. Is the antibacterial ingredient safe?

A. Yes The antibacterial ingredient is safe for the various uses in which it is incorporated.

Q. Will this antibacterial protection diminish over time?

A. No, it is incorporated into the gelcoat structure and will not wash or wear off. As long as the gelcoat surface remains intact, the antibacterial protection is still present in the gelcoat finish.
